The Alan H. MacDonald Management and Support Staff Training Fund was established at the University in 2010 to acknowledge Alan MacDonald’s role as a mentor to all levels of staff in Libraries and Cultural Resources and to acknowledge his commitment to life-long learning, to information technologies and to leadership development on campus.

Alan was a true leader in the area of technological innovation on campus and collaborative resource sharing across Canada. His vision regarding new technologies helped the University of Calgary keep on top of the knowledge explosion, providing the foundation for the Taylor Family Digital Library.

As University Orator from 1989-2002, Alan influenced many and saw hundreds of graduates walk across the stage. After retirement, Alan continued to contribute to the campus and to the Emeritus Association serving as the President. A.H. MacDonald died in 2010.

Your donation is greatly appreciated and will assist in building the fund to endowment status by 2013, the 70th anniversary of Alan H. MacDonald’s birth.
