Neva (Pennie) Ramsay Memorial Bursary

A new endowment to honour a member of the Class of 1979.

The first graduating class from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, the class of 1979, is creating an endowment to fund a bursary in remembrance of Neva Ramsay (Pennie).

Neva came to Calgary in the 1970s and prior to law school was integral in the establishment of virtually all of the women's groups in the city. She entered law school as a way to keep giving back to women and men in need of a helping hand. As a single mom to three girls law school was a struggle financially, but she graduated with her class and went on to a long career in family law.

Neva never turned away from those who needed her help in coping with their legal problems. She had a huge heart. A woman with a distinctive laugh, she was smart and witty and always up for an outdoors adventure. Neva died too early from aggressive Alzheimer's disease.

We are looking to raise $20,000.00 to create an endowed bursary in Neva's name, to help future law students pursue their education with the same passion and determination held by Neva.
