Support the Anita K F Li Graduate Scholarship

Anita Li taught in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Calgary from 1971-1995. During her tenure, she served as chair of the Clinical, School & Community Psychology Program and the Special Education Program. She played a leadership role in developing several new programs and courses, supervised numerous masters and doctoral students, and trained School Psychologists. Her research and many publications focused on the therapeutic use of play and on the socio-emotional needs of children. Her research on gifted children earned her a Mensa award for research excellence in 1996.

Born in Hong Kong, educated in China, Hong Kong, England, Australia, and U.S.A., Anita Li taught at Hong Kong University 1957-1968 where she helped launch the first Child Guidance Centre. At the University of Calgary, she helped start a program to mentor women faculty and served as Convocation Mace Bearer.  She was made Member of the Order of the University of Calgary in 2002.

The endowment for the Anita K.F. Li Graduate Scholarship was created by colleagues, friends, and family on the occasion of her retirement from the University of Calgary.
