Dr. John Kendall was a former head of the Department of Computer Science (1985-1989) and former Dean of Science (1989-1997).
In his nearly-30-year career at the university, he was an innovator, an active community member, and a champion for students. He remained active in the university community after retiring, initiating the John Kendall Doctoral Thesis Award, which is presented to a graduate student demonstrating excellence in their PhD thesis – you may remember often seeing him at our annual Faculty of Science Awards of Excellence.
Our deepest condolences go out to Dr. Kendall’s family, and his many friends and colleagues.
