Dr. Jon-Paul Voroney (July 14, 1972 – July 28, 2017)

Dr. Jon-Paul Voroney obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Guelph in 1998 and received the Gold Medal that year from the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society. He then decided to pursue a career in Medicine completing training in Medicine (2002) and Radiation Oncology (2007) through the University of Toronto followed by a fellowship with the Radiation Oncology Research Unit at Queen’s University (2007-08). Dr. Voroney joined the Radiation Oncology team at the University of Calgary and Tom Baker Cancer Centre in 2008. Over the years his clinical focus was devoted to the care of patients with endocrine and cutaneous cancer or brain metastases. Patients along with their families valued his knowledge and genuine care for their wellbeing in their time of need.

Dr. Voroney had broad interests including growing orchids, his dogs and a special focus on the use of Applied Mathematics to improve care for patients with indications for radiation therapy.
